Unfortunately that can’t happen here as the occupiers are very firmly entrenched. Even if they wanted to leave it would take days to clear every vehicle, to say nothing of the mess that would be left behind.
Counter-protesters arrived in front of City Hall here before the main protest and blocked the street. Police ended up setting up barriers between the 2 groups, and the convoy was forced to turn around because the counter-protest group wouldn't back down.
occupiers have now taken down the fencing around the war memorial and are all over it. disgrace doesn't begin to describe this. police are standing around watching, doing nothing.
I have no frame of reference, but I get the sense the war memorial the equivalent of Arlington Cemetery? If so, that's insane. From both a "citizens trashing the memorial" and "police not doing anything" standpoint.

I’ve seen at least two upside down “Lest We Forget” flags so far today. No respect for veterans so no surprise they are desecrating the War Memorial.

And since we're in the middle of a heatwave I keep forgetting it's the dead of winter. Is everyone just used to the cold, because protesting in that many layers seems inconvenient. I mean, if they come to LA for the Super Bowl as predicted, then that makes a lot more sense from a personal convenience standpoint.
There is a support protest planned for here this afternoon. Lots of downtown businesses having to close early, and our primary Covid testing center. The stupidity of this whole thing is unbelievable.
Do you guys think there's comes point when the citizens take matters into their own hands? I did read an article about someone living in downtown and they said the horns were "music to their ears" because they support the "movement". But I've seen plenty of the opposite (and sane IMO) opinion. I imagine there's a breaking point.
starting to see smaller counter protests. there was one guy who was right at ground zero and stood in a spot a trucker was trying to get into. he wouldn't move. trucker idiots were screaming at him, he just stood there.
