 I remember watching an interview with NHL ref Red Storey.  He described a play where the puck broke in half. Some players were battling in the corner for the puck while the other half got shot in the net. He blew the play dead and ruled it no goal sine the puck didn't completely ross the line

 Many moons ago, I has at a hull Olympics game when a puck went over the glass, into the rafters and came down in 2 pieces.  Got one half, guy across the aisle got the other. He gestured to me to give him my half, I did the same to him. I got his. I ended up with a broken puck. Yippee. Don’t know why we didn’t just split it.
