My GAF level is also dropping but I think it's more from an increasing stress level thinking about just how damn much I have to do before year end.
You and me both. Still not sure if I'll get extended at the current client and there is SO much to get done, but not enough time. Manager wants to extend me because he knows they'll be in trouble losing me and another guy.
But they need special approval from higher ups for extensions as we've been on that client for 3.5 years and limit is 3 years or else need to hire full time. Difference though is we're not contracted to them directly, we're full time with my employer who had a contract with them. Co-worker was told today that he's not getting extended at the client despite them wanting him extended. I asked and decision hasn't been made yet for me, so looks like I made it to the next round of decision making.
If I don't get extended, I'll still have a job, just not sure what client I'll be working at yet as they have me penciled in on working at this client for another year.
It's complicated and stressful. There's no way I can get everything done and transfer what I've been working on to someone else in 3 weeks.
yeah... we have a bunch of client contracts under negotiations right now, and within the next few weeks may drop from 11 on roster to 7 or 8. Both good and bad....
PLUS we just found out that management are in negotiations to sign on as a reseller/support provider for a 3rd application in our field, which is again, both good and bad....
But we are only 2 weeks out from the holiday change embargo, so we might get some breathing space for a few weeks.
Haha, "holiday change embargo"...it's only breathing space if you're on *one* side of the transaction.
I feel like the context for contract negotiations on just about everything could get wild and hairy between now and EOY with Covid and economy doing the old, "Hold my beer" meme. :-/

Sorry to hear all that, that sounds stressful as heck

Oof.
I had a brilliant flash this morning that could turn my "do 3 years worth of work in 6 weeks over the holidays" into "only do the last 12 months the hard way, and everything else the easy way" but I need to run it by my manager first...AND HE WON'T CALL ME BACK. (Honestly, he ignores me sometimes because he trusts me and just wants me to do it on my own, which is cool, but there are sometimes when I'm like, no, you really need to weigh in on this!)
Some of my stress is self-imposed, too. I want to try and enjoy the holidays but I don't have my decorations up yet and then I wonder if I should just skip it to skip the stress, but I really like having decs up and watching Hallmark movies.
