Hey y'all

Can one of you post a picture or two of the Centennial jersey? I got one from China, and it doesn't look right, shouldn't be right, but just want to verify.

Thanks

 This one?

That's the one, but I need pictures of an actual jersey. Close ups especially around the "o"

Unfortunately the Hilton hotels aren't the best locations right yet.    There is a very nice hilton at the casino on the Quebec side, but you'll be isolated without a car there.

Canuck that is awesome! So much info. Thank you.

I've got Hilton points... I'll have to check and see if they are in the area.

Car - depends on weather. I've driven in the snow before, but would prefer not doing it.

Weather: Yep, bought boots for the Denver trip and it didn't snow till Sunday morning. They are brand new, so by January they should be good to go.

Thank again.

Just keep in mind that you're coming in January - kind of getting into the heart of an Ottawa winter.    As long as you understand that, you can set expectations correctly.  In other words, it will be cold outside when walking.  Have a winter jacket, winter hat and some gloves, and some form of appropriate footwear... doesn't have to be crazy boots, but something better than running shoes, right?  Especially if it ends up snowing a little - which is on the table for that time of year.

The business inn hotel is in an "ok" spot.  You'd be in the "Elgin Street" (sometimes referred to as Sens Mile) location of downtown.  It will be an urban feel and will have activity.   That particular hotel is on top of MacLaren's which is a typical medium sized sports bar which has also hosted past "Sens Summer Fan Fests" .

Getting to and from the CTC:

 - From downtown, taking a 400-series bus would definitely be easiest if you don't have a car.   "4XX is the bus number and any of the busses in the 400s are event busses which basically go to the CTC.   You'd have to check OCTranspo.com for the times, etc.  But in essence you'd be able to pick up a bus from downtown (few blocks away) and it would take you right there."  Kardinal would recommend these busses as well.   If you haven't been here, I'd say take the earliest one you can so that you have time to not be rushed on arrival.

Around Elgin Street (Business Inn location).

 - lots of restaurants and bars along there.  You'll always be walking outside.

- You'll have to walk several blocks outside to get down to Parliament or the byward market (even more blocks).   Not a big deal in summer, "could" be a deal in winter if you're not prepared or if we have a cold snap that time.  Could also be lovely and mild weekend too... never know.

Russell mentioned the Byward Market area... I would strongly recommend making that your base station. It's much more unique and lots of restaurants and closer to the things you'd want to see/experience.      Hotels in that area of recommendation are:   Andaz (by Hyatt), Westin, Courtyard by Marriott.     They may be out of your budget... I haven't priced them.   The Westin is attached to the large mall down there and across the street from the market... great location and one of the hotels NHL teams will stay at.  I'm sure it's expensive though

In the Byward market area are tons of restaurants and I suspect some of them (ex: the Senate) might have a bus to the games, but that's likely hard to plan from afar.  I'd plan on the 400s busses... unless you have a car, then it's a fairly simple drive unless a winter storm.

What's a good place to eat that has the bus?

Oh, wait, puck drop is 1 PM.

My wife is warming to this idea.

1 pm start could complicate things. Will ask around about restaurants that might have shuttle buses.

Neither of us skate.

Night life -- not so much, but dinner for sure.

Traffic- sounds pleasant. January - should prepare for snow. What about public transportation?

I suggest taking one of the no. 400 buses that run every game.  Usually faster than driving, especially coming back. Also, some restaurants run a bus to the games if you have dinner there before the game.

I like the way this sounds.

Bring your skates and hit the canal!

Elgin st and the market (local reference) are where the night life is, if that's your thing.

Just a heads up, the 20 mins from that hotel to the CTC would be if drove it at 3 am. Expect it to be more like 40 mins with traffic and construction, even for afternoon games. God help you if it snows, as well.
