What? Really? I thought he was one of those university player signings. I guess I really have checked out of this season.
I think if he didn't sign with Ottawa he was going back in the draft. This is his 7th game, with 3 left that will make 10.
Not sure if that means he burns a contract year or not, but probably signed with the promise of getting an NHL salary for a couple weeks and a fair chance to show what he can do.
2015 NHL draft with 3 years at NCAA. If he went back one more year he could have gone the UFA route.
Due to his age he could only sign a 2 year ELC and the contract is not slide eligible. So playing or not a year was going to get burned.
