Considering the average lifespan of a player is like 3-4 years (especially the 3rd/4th liners) that's pretty crazy.

Yep, just think how long his usual dance partners from the early years have been gone from the league... and here he is.  Still playing, still effective, even though his role has changed a bit.

And he fought all the heavy weights, as a middle weight/ light heavy weight.

 heck... he took on Chara!

And held his own!

And the fact that he played the way he did and was only suspended once, I believe, or maybe not at all? Shows you he played his role smart, as well. Knew exactly where the line was and rarely crossed it.

I'm not sure that he was ever suspended.

He's been a wizard at knowing when the line was moving and staying JUST on the legal side of it.

Boro is a beast this year. Every forward must be peaking over their shoulder at him.

And you won't find anyone in team history that gave it as much as he did, every shift. Even when the team was hopeless, he always showed up to play hard.

He's been the driver for this team for so many years... it's going to be a strange day when he finally hangs them up.

Who would ever have thought that Chris Neil would make it to 1000 games?

He always knew exactly what his job was and what his limitations were. Never had any delusions.

Yep, he's played his role well over the years.  Just never would have imagined him lasting 15 years.  And to do it all with one team.... not many of those out there.
