I guess this means they have decided the Japanese violation wasn't bad enough? Looked pretty similar to me to what happened in 2012
ok, clear DQ for US, baton change violation, not a lane violation.
BUT, Canada got DQ'q in London for a non-impacting line step
Maybe they decided two DQ's was enough for one Olympic final.

So stepping on the line is only a DQ if stepping on the inside line in the curve or if causing interference anywhere else on the track. So Japan's line step on the final stretch was considered a no harm, no foul
