Canadiens legend Guy Lafleur didn't mince words about the performance - or lack thereof - of certain Montreal players despite the team's lengthy postseason run.
In an interview with La Presse this week, the five-time Stanley Cup champion and three-time NHL scoring leader specifically took aim at wingers Thomas Vanek and Max Pacioretty, saying they can't show up in a 7-4 win over the New York Rangers in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Final and come up empty in Game 6.
"Guys like Vanek and Pacioretty, you can't keep that on your team," he told the Montreal newspaper. "They should remain at home if they're not willing to pay the price. Your team will never win with players like that who fade when there's adversity."
Well, I guess he's not interested in goodwill ambassador work with the team.
I think Marek is the host Saturdays and Maclean on Sundays. There's going to be lots of televised hockey next year. Hoping that the production is good.
I was surprised that Healey was pro-Montreal that series. I think they should have let him be pro-NYR considering that he was one, and the discussion would have been at least more interesting. After all he was pro NYR when the Sens played them 2 years ago
HNIC will still be on CBC for four years, but CBC no longer has editorial control over it, Rogers does. George Snuffleupagus ....err...Stroumboulopoulos (thank you Shredder, I still laugh at that one!) will be hosting the show, MacLean and Cherry will still be doing Coach's Corner, and apparently MacLean will be doing colour on Sunday nights with Cole doing PxP. Or it could be Cole doing colour with MacLean doing PxP. Or it could all change. WHO KNOWS!
