There may be a hidden bright side to this. It does appear, from all the leaks that have come out, that the other players weren't all that happy with chuckie, so maybe there is addition by subtraction here. We all saw that he did not play up to his level last year, and we assumed it was the hand injury. But, its now obvious that was just part of it. He was probably somewhat of an anchor last year so we can hope that with him gone, the team has a better vibe around it.

And yes, I will grasp at any straw that presents itself because if Alfie is a leaf, what the **** else do I have?

As a fellow ray of sunshine 🤣...

Was literally just talking about this with the Pens fan at dog park this morning. And I love your "addition by subtraction" reference, that's a perfect description.

And if the Alfie move is a promotion for him, and he did it to stay in the general area, I can grudgingly get behind that. (Does he still have kids in the "living at home" age range?)

Tweedle Dee and Dum (and Dummer if we want to include papa)

Not gonna lie, I did pause yesterday to consider how to call him, because "Chuckie" felt no longer applicable.

ESPN: "Brady Tkachuk says trade was about "a chance to win", not playing with his brother."

He *wants* to get his ass boo'd on his return, doesn't he?

He's just really, really dumb.  I don't think he has enough critical thinking skills to even consider the optics.  Not about the fans (he doesn't give a crap about those), but about how he's pretty much throwing his teammates under the bus while phoning it in.  Who wants to play with a douche like that?

Yeah, no argument on the IQ level I guess I'm just surprised he's really THAT dumb. To not have absorbed ANY media training over the years and just speak without a filter at all makes me evileye

I expect it from the average player in the league, the vast majority of these guys had their education peak mid-HS, but for a (former) captain?

And, yeah, (I must have put this in my text to TJ and not here) it really feels like a middle finger to everyone. Is this the same guy who got teary when Norris left?

Okay, so word on the street is looking to flip the picks for top-6 forward...who's on the wishlist?

the name mason mactavish has come up. What do you know about him?

High level...pretty hot ****, one of the few names that I was bummed to leave behind in the divorce. Making the '22 Olympics team is a significant bullet point I think. IIRC, him coming up at least partially drove the decision to let Zegras (and the other kid whose name is escaping me right now) go.

He hasn't played a full 82 games in the last 3 seasons so that's eyebrow raiser (I honestly can't remember if he was injured or what.)

Also from wikipedia..."His father is currently a scout in the Ottawa Senators organization." [insert Firefly "Huh." gif here]

listening to all the flapping about this trade this morning, the point has been made many times about Canadian teams picking or trading for American players from now on. It is something teams have to consider now. Best to know their politics before drafting them. Sad but true.

God, the "normalized ends" (vs crackpot extremes) of the political spectrum should not be so extreme that it even needs to be considered.

I apologize for my ****ing country.

That said, I recall a SWE player for the Ducks ~20 years ago who returned to Sweden because his wife really didn't like NA, and I remember there being a couple of articles about how it was really a thing that SWE players booked it back home as soon as they retired because the NA life just didn't jive with most of them. So I suppose there's always some degree of "demographic risk".

Mcdavid may be looking for a new home, now that bab**** is the coach.

1) As long as he stops judging my screen time I might be okay with this. Does he know we have our own German?

2) Uh, the investigation is over already? Did I lose time or was that really fast?

See, told you I was sick. Healthy Cathy would have realized what she was walking into.

Seriously though, are we assuming the same no-look rubber stamp on Bab**** that returned Quenneville and Bowman to the league?

Listening to Vancouver and Toronto radio station podcasts McDavid wanted the creep to be his head coach and so did DrySaddle.

I had already checked in w Pan on the stupid Seattle trade w Panthers earlier in the day, Kraken got a bottom 6 Forward I never heard of who played 70plus games and averages less than a half a point a game and wasn’t good enough to play in the playoffs for them and Seattle’s brain dead FO traded a 1st and 2nd for this 5’10” 180 pound forward. Ottawa now has that pick from Seattle. So to get a guy like Jason Robertson outta Dallas whose supposed to be on the block will take more than what they got for Brady.  Ottawa u have to believe were offered that guy and they passed. Brady may be a declining asset that remains to be seen and the bottom line is they are worse today unless they can pull off some magic.

is Brady really a declining asset at this point?

If he made it known, intentionally or otherwise, that he had ZERO intention of staying, that's definitely a declining asset on OTT's books. Even if 31 teams see him as a non-declining asset.
