About the possible change in the lottery draft. You didn't talk about it, but it would dramatically change the value of a 1st round pick.
Imagine if this was in place this year and a few years ago Boston or LA would have traded their 1st round pick never thinking that they would miss the playoffs anytime soon.
Or, if team A makes a trade for the 1st round pick in 2017 of team B, but team B misses the playoffs in 2016 and wins the lottery in 2016, that 2017 pick is suddenly worth less.
Every year there are a few teams that at the beginning of the season experts had them as a lock for the playoffs, but end up missing them. For that reason, trades for 1st round picks in future seasons would not happen anymore. The only 1st round picks that might get traded would be from top teams at the trade deadline for the upcoming draft only.
Are there any 1st round picks for next season that got traded this year or past years. If this change is implemented, suddenly the value of that pick has potentially increased dramatically. Lets say that team misses the playoffs, "their pick" wins the lottery, but it goes to the other team. Are they now ineligible for the top three picks in the next 5 years?
